They are varnished by hand in the Eastman Strings workshop with an antique-style spirit varnish. The Ivan Dunov Superior is set apart by more highly select tonewoods and increased craftsmanship details.

The sound is described as rounder than that of a new instrument, almost as if it has already been broken in. These instruments are excellent for advanced violinists.
